Southwest Minzu University, abbreviated as "Southwest Minzu University", is located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.

It is a comprehensive national university directly under the National Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China. It is jointly established by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the People's Government of Chengdu City.
