①often放在行为动词之前，特殊动词be，情态动词之后例：She is often late for work.她经常上班迟到。

They often go to cinema together.他们经常一起去电影院。You must often conme to see her.你要经常来看她。

②often放在句末用来加强语气例：You won't see me often.你不会经常看到我的。He writes to me often.他常常给我写信。

③often放在句首时表示强调例句：Often did we warn him not to do so. 我曾常常警告他不要那样做。④与will连用表示将来惯常的行为:We will often help the old men next year.明年我们将经常帮助这个老人。They will often come here next week.下周他们打算经常来这里。与情态动词would连用，表示过去惯常的行为:When we were childen we would often stay up all night.我们当孩子时经常通宵不睡。

⑤often作频率副词，用于一般现在时例：He often watches TV in the morning.(一般现在时)他经常早上上看电视。I often go to the library on Sundays.我经常星期天去图书馆。often后接动词过去式用于一般过去时例：I often went the zoo on weekends.我过去经常周末去动物园。He often went the library on weekends.他过去经常周末去图书馆。Jim often got up early last year.吉姆去年经常早起床。

⑥often用于一般将来时例：I will often go to see her next year.我明年会经常去看她的。We will often help the old men next year.明年我们会经常帮助这个老人。
